Respitality

Shared Care Scotland, a charity supporting unpaid carers with short breaks and respite care, sought to redevelop the Respitality website.

This website connects carers with donated breaks from the hospitality sector, providing much-needed respite. The existing website was outdated, difficult to navigate, and couldn't handle the growing demand from carers, businesses, and delivery partners.

Shared Care Scotland needed a new, user-friendly platform to support the expanding community and improve the overall user experience.

The brief

The project's aim was to create a user-friendly, visually appealing platform that supports the needs of carers, businesses, and delivery partners.

The existing site was outdated and unable to handle the growing community's demands, making navigation and break management challenging.

The new website needed to improve the user experience by enhancing design elements, streamlining the Delivery Partner Area, integrating advanced search and filtering capabilities, and ensuring robust data security.

The focus was on making the site intuitive and engaging while maintaining functionality for all users.

Streamlining the process

The delivery partner area is used by local authority delivery partners, working with local businesses, to manage donated breaks as well as match breaks to carers in need of respite.

Partners add available dates, update the listings and manage reservations on behalf of the carers they work with.

We significantly enhanced the functionality of this element of the Respitality site by introducing advanced search tools that made finding relevant breaks more intuitive, enhancing the use of forms and by giving delivery partners greater control over the management of reservations.

By streamlining the whole process of managing and offering breaks along with improving reports, it has helped enhance the overall mission of Respitality by fostering stronger partnerships and increasing the availability of breaks for carers.

Umbraco Cloud and UI Builder

A Game-Changer for Respitality’s advanced reporting

We had already successfully deployed Umbraco CMS into the main Shared Care Scotland website to extremely positive user feedback, so the SCS team were very keen to use this for the Respitality initiative too.

Given the need for advanced reporting on external data, we chose Umbraco Cloud and leveraged its UI builder.  This tool allows for external data to be created, managed, and reported on using the highly intuitive Umbraco backoffice, without the need for building custom dashboards and functionality.

Using the UI builder was a game-changer, with the module delivering exactly the kind of information the client needed.

Testimonial

We needed a platform that could support the work we do across a large network of organisations, as well as incorporate our refreshed branding.

The team at Factory73 were fantastic to work with, and helped explain in layman’s terms how to get the best out of the product, which was massively appreciated when it’s not in our wheelhouse.

The website that has been built is now providing a better user experience for everyone, and we have been able to dramatically reduce administrative time in our workloads thanks to the reporting features.
