East Ayrshire Leisure Trust

Extensive fully accessible redesign and redevelopment of the East Ayrshire Leisure Trust website that makes it easy for customers to find out about events and classes across East Ayrshire.

East Ayrshire Leisure Trust (EALT) is responsible for a wide range of cultural, countryside, sports and community facilities and services across East Ayrshire.

We were selected by EALT following a competitive tender process to improve their communication with members, partners, tourists and the wider community.

Clear objectives were provided by the client within their brief and included:

  • To allow customers to view availability quickly and intuitively, in order to make online booking, ticket sales and sports membership enquiries and purchases a simple and clear user experience
  • To allow customers to book, pay for events & memberships online
  • To make event and venue information as easy to find as possible, leading to a reduction in time spent by Trust staff in dealing with enquiries
  • To heighten online awareness of the Trust’s tourist attractions, key venues, facilities and services with a particular focus on venues and ‘destination marketing’

We successfully delivered on each of these areas and continue to work with EALT to monitor the results whilst continually refining their web presence according to what we find.

The Project

A major driver behind the design and development of the new website was to ensure that the user experience was as seamless as possible across multiple devices. East Ayrshire Phone Screenshot

The original EALT website was not designed for mobile and tablet and with over 80% of pages viewed on smaller screens it was important that the design delivered a positive user experience.

We radically overhauled the look and feel of the EALT events section. With a full calendar of classes, events and exhibitions spread over 30 venues throughout East Ayrshire, it was important that customers could find the information they required as quickly as possible.

We introduced a filtering system that let customers search by type of event, specific venue and/or date. The newly designed EALT logo was perfect for providing a colour scheme that could be applied to different event types. This system also had to integrate with EALT’s external booking system.

Furthermore, the design had to be accessible in order that as many users as possible could easily access content.

The CMS is a delight to work with – changes and updates to the website can be done in minutes.

Easy to administer

We’ve made keeping content, events, and classes updated easy! Trust staff now have more time to devote to marketing and promoting their events as they are now experiencing the benefits of using the highly intuitive Umbraco CMS to manage every aspect of their site.

Working with Factory73 to develop our new website has been a real pleasure. They took the time to understand the needs of our business and our customers and developed a website that looks great and functions really well. The team helped with our hosting requirements too and continue to be on hand to offer support and development ideas as we grow our website…. I can’t recommend them enough.

In Summary

With the majority of the Trust’s audience using mobile or tablet devices to view the site it was crucial that we delivered a smooth and intuitive user experience for all users.

Marry this with an easy to use content management system and EALT staff are now spending a fraction of the time that they used to on updating the site, giving them more time to spend on the creative promotion and marketing of their venues and events.
